Peru has three different regions - coast, sierra and selva with its Andean Mountains and the Amazon Rainforest. You can imagine that all in all, this makes the south american country a place of unique landscapes, where is more to see than you can dream of.

Peru's Culture

Peru is a country that could preserve its proud cultures despite the growing of globalization. It is a mix of Hispanic and native traditions. The two main native cultures are Quechua and Aymara that speak both their own language. Spanish is the official language. Peru's culture can be described as a great mix of tradition, celebration and art

  • Caral-Supe is said to be the oldest centre of civilisation

  • The tradition of trial marriage of the Quechua people is still practised.

  • Peru’s official languages are Spanish, Quechua, and Aymara - there are also a large number of minor amazonian languages

  • Almost every weaving technique known today had been invented by the Peruvians

Peru's food variety

The Peruvian cuisine reflects local ingredients and practices. It is highly influenced by the indigenous population like the Inka and dishes brought by immigrants from Europe, Asia and West Africa.

  • More than 5.000 different types of potatoes

  • 55 varieties of corn

  • Cuy (guinea pig) is a traditional dish
